Training & Learning Consortium (TLC) currently offers three types of courses in counselling and complementary therapies.

These are:

Course summaries


Counselling Courses

There are three counselling courses, accredited by COSCA, the national professional organisation for counselling in Scotland:

Counselling Skills Certificate

The basic framework and first step towards a professional qualification in counselling.

Counselling Certificate

Qualifying you to practice as a counsellor in an organisation or group.

Counselling Diploma

Qualifying you to work as an independent counsellor.

Professional development courses

Aimed at teachers, youth workers, voluntary sector workers, health, care or counselling professionals, our courses will enable you to increase your theoretical knowledge and build on your existing skills.

Complementary therapies courses and workshops

Formal and informal courses in complementary therapies, including reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy, meditation and massage. Leisure courses and courses to help practitioners develop or broaden their skills.

Course structure

You can undertake units or modules as stand-alone training, or build them up into a professional qualifications ranging from certificate to advanced diplomas in the course of your choice. Study will be by a variety of approaches, daytime, evening, weekends and residentials and the course structure is modular and credit based.
