Counselling Courses We offer three courses, accredited by COSCA, the national professional organisation for counselling in Scotland. Course dates are agreed through negitiation with students at an introductory meeting. Counselling Skills CertificateThis course provides the basic framework and first step towards a professional qualification in counselling. The Skills Certificate has four strands:
It is a challenging course that will improve your interpersonal and communication skills and provide insight into yourself and your impact on others both professionally and personally. As well as covering the core skills, ethical practice and theoretical approaches, this course develops interpersonal and communication skills, gives an insight into your practice and approach and helps you identify your preferred approach to working with people. The Counselling Skills Certificate is the entry requirement for the Diploma in Counselling. Course structure and feesThe course runs for 12 months and consists of four modules of 30 hours each. The fee is £200 for each module or £700 if paid at the start. If you are on low income and benefits, the cost is £125 for each module. Register for information Counselling CertificateThis is the next stage in the training towards a professional qualification and provides you with the knowledge and practice required to work as a practitioner inn the counselling field. The Counselling Certificate will qualify you to practice within an organisation or group setting. To work as an independent practitioner you will need to complete the Diploma . Course structure and feesThe course runs over 12 months. It includes 150 hours of training, and your will also be required to undertake 50 hours of counselling practice, under supervision. The fee is £1,000 (a deposit of £250 deposit is required, with the balance payable monthly). If you are on a low income and receiving benefits, the fee is £750. Please put "Counselling Certificate" as the subject line Counselling DiplomaNEW: Counselling Diploma Course Application Pack (.zip file) The diploma qualifies you to work as an independent professional counsellor. To qualify for the course, you must have been awared the Counselling Certificate. Structure and feesThe course runs over 18 months and involves 300 hours of training and a further 100 hours of supervised practice. In addition you require to have completed 40 hours of personal therapy by the end of the diploma. The fee is £2,500 (a non-refundable deposit of £500 is required, with the balance payable monthly). Supervision and personal therapy, and associated fees, are arranged separately by course participants. Register for information |
